European policies support Western Balkan countries on their path to EU membership. By translating the policy priorities of enlargement into key sectors, they provide particularly useful financial assistance to facilitate compliance with admission criteria, including the institutional reforms necessary for the adoption of the acquis communautaire and the continuation of negocitiations. These priorities are set out in Indicative Strategic Documents within the Pre-Accession Instrument (IPAII), and will be implemented in the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
As part of their accession process, Western Balkan countries also participate in two EU macro-strategies, notably the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) and the European Union Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR). These strategies aim to unite Member States or non-EU states by exploiting the potential of their sustainable development and facing common challenges, improving transport and energy links, environmental protection, sustainable tourism and promoting the blue economy .
In the two-day seminar, the Adriatic-Ionian Euroregion aimed to provide target groups with information on financial opportunities and CLLD approach, along with useful coordination and operation tools. The seminar included the practice of mixing short presentations, studies, work groups, simulations and discussions.
