The Adriatic Ionian Euroregion organized the Info Day “Adriatic Ionian Youth own their Future” in Campobasso (Italy) on 10 December 2018.
This meeting came after the presentation conference of the AI-NURECC initiative in cooperation with CPMR and the Tirana Regional Council, held in Tirana on 20 November 2018, which was organized by the Tirana Regional Council.
The event was attended by AI-NURECC partner networks, EU policy officers, organizations supporting youth empowerment and participation, and several local and national level stakeholders including about 80 local high school students.
The event was organized in accordance with the aims of the AI-NURECC Initiative, which supports cooperation with young people and puts young people at the core of its action.
Within the framework of AI-NURECC Youth Action, the Info Day represented a first step towards promoting and building an open dialogue between the institutional and technical structures of EUSAIR and the Adriatic Ionian Youth. Encouraging youth participation in democratic life and society as a priority of the EU.
It is embodied in the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU and is reflected in the objectives of the EU’ Youth Strategy as well as in the Union’s enlargement strategy.
Raising awareness on the available opportunities for Adriatic Ionian youths, the event aimed to facilitate their participation in the creation, articulation and implementation of EUSAIR.
The Region can (and should) consider all good practices implemented at the local level in order to capitalize them and to inspire future steps towards approaching long, inclusive and participatory thinking in decision-making, especially when it is comes to young generations.
In this regard, the Adriatic Ionian Euroregion presented a second initiative that is going to deliver in spring 2019 in Montenegro: The Adriatic Ionian Youth Organization Forum (AIYOF).
With the aim of actively involving the Youth Organizations of the eight EUSAIR countries, AIYOF will be designed to stimulate the Adriatic Ionian Youth to take ownership, objectives and related opportunities of EU and the Strategy while giving voice to their needs.
The AIYOF will represent an outstanding opportunity to network and discuss EUSAIR topics through youth lenses and, most importantly, to share recommendations on a possible youth agenda with decision makers and EUSAIR stakeholders.
Moreover, the event was the occasion for the announcement of the future signature of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Adriatic Ionian Euroregion and the European and the Biennial of Young Artists of Europe and the Mediterranean (BJCEM).
