Enhanced fights against human trafficking and reintegration of its victims was the focus of a technical workshop lead from the Prefect of Tirana with representatives from Tirana Municipality, Local Directorate of Border and Migration, Tirana Regional Council and other governmental institutions.
During the workshop, all involved actors presented cases of human trafficking indentified and treated as well as the solution given to any case. The actors also shared all initiatives taken related to rising awareness of the wide public on the risks of human trafficking for the society, aiming to prevent this phenomenon.
Technical representatives of present institutions reported on their respective responsibilities and duties filled to this related, as identification of victims human trafficking, report on the cases, provision of social services and legal aid, aiming to rehabilitate and reintegrate victims of human trafficking.
The expert of Tirana Regional Council, Ms. Matilda Hamzallari, reported that Tirana Regional Council in compliance with its legal and sublegal acts and institutional responsibilities, since 2016 and on, is successfully implementing the project “Offering social services to girls and women victims of human trafficking and domestic violence in Tirana Region” in close collaboration with civil society organizations.
Ms. Hamzallari emphasized that this project with high responsibilities’ gives assistance to a considerable number of identified cases, while the institution of Regional Council leads this process related to cases identified and assisted. All present representatives of the technical workshop highly evaluated the role and the impact of this project in Tirana Region.
